JOIN & LEARN ABOUT THE HULSTROM PTA
Get Involved with your Child's School
Our mission is to bring parents, teachers, and government agencies together to speak on behalf of our students and our school. We want every parent and teacher to be a PTA member so that our voice can be heard and make a positive difference for our children.
PTA is more than a local fundraising group for our school. It is an organization focused on the education, safety, and well-being of our children.
Front Page Updates: The PTA front page (the page you see now) is where you will find all the most current information and updates. It's the one place you can go to find out what is new. In addition to this front page, we now have several additional PTA pages that you can visit for more information.
Additional Pages: You will notice that the PTA website now has several different sections to help you navigate and find information easier. The Main Menu (the list on the left side of every Hulstrom web page) now includes additional links under the main PTA header. You can use that list to link to several specific content areas, or simply follow the links below:
If you have any questions about the website or find any errors or problems, feel free to
contact our PTA Webmaster, Michelle Dorsett, at 303-280-7292 or michellePTA@comcast.net
We're Already Looking for a Next Year's Leadership Team! The Hulstrom Options K-8 PTA is creating a nominating committee, which is simply a group of parents formed from inside the membership of our PTA for the purpose of nominating candidates for office. We are interested in people who want to be on the nominating committee as well as those who are interested in a PTA Leadership Team position. If you are interested, please contact Jeanie Styer at gofermagnetics@msn.com.
Here is the timeline for filling next year's elected positions on the PTA Leadership Team:
November 17th PTA Meeting - Nomination Committee Announced (Guess what else? You can nominate yourself for a leadership team position! And we encourage you to do so if that is something of interest.)
January 12th PTA Meeting - Nominees announced for the 2010-2011 school year
February 9th PTA Meeting - Election of 2010-2011 Hulstrom Options Elected Officials
PTA members, don't miss these important meetings because your vote counts!
Meals for Our Teachers: Parent Teacher Conferences are coming up on November 23rd and 24th. PTA will be organizing meals for the teachers during those days. If you would like to contribute, please e-mail Jamie McGehee at jamjammac@aol.com.
MARK YOUR CALENDARS: We now have an October-November Events List (updated 10/7) that details school events in addition to general PTA events. (In past years, if you are used to reading your purple paper flyer and then marking your calendar with dates, this is the document you need to check out!)
The Results Are In (Parent Questionnaire): Thank you to everyone who provided feedback to the PTA via the PTA Questionnaire. Here are the results of the survey. We welcome everyone to view the feedback and we thank you for helping to make us better.
As approved at the 9/15 PTA meeting, we are providing each teacher with $200 for the 2009-2010 school year. Please fill out the attached reimbursement form and provide receipts for reimbursement for all purchases. We appreciate all that you do, and we want you to spend your money this year. So don't hesitate to turn in your forms for reimbursement. Also, remember that we have a fund for "Special Teacher Requests" as well if your needed expenses go beyond the allocated $200 per teacher. So please, just ask!
MARK YOU CALENDAR
We have some fun activities planned throughout the year to enhance our children's school experience as well as fundraising events to provide for educational enrichment. Please mark your calendars for the following Dates:
As mentioned above, we also have an October-November Events List (updated 10/7) that details school events in addition to general PTA events. (This is the same list as the one above under "Current Events," but we thought it was so important, we didn't want you to miss it.) =)
Check back here for more updates on these activites.
More Ways to Earn Money for our School
Collect your Box Tops! Hulstrom earns 10 cents for every Box Top we collect, and it adds up fast. All you have to do is clip Box Tops from boxes, cans, and other items that show the Box Top symbol. Turn in your clipped Box Tops to the green PTA box in the main foyer. You can turn in Box Tops at any time. Our goal is raise at least $2,000 in Box Tops---if we reach our goal, there will be a school-wide assembly to celebrate! Check the main foyer for our progress so far toward this goal. (Click on the Box Tops symbol for more information.)
Collect Campbell's Soup Labels! We are also collecting Campbell's Soup Labels for Education. These labels can also be turned in to the green PTA box in the main foyer. (Click on the Labels for Education symbol for more information.)
