I teach and I love what I do! My educational and teaching journey stretches over decades. Since joining Adams 12 during the 1999-2000 school year, I have had some incredible professional opportunities and feel fortunate to work here at Hulstrom. I joined the staff and community in 2011 after the school I worked at closed. My teaching experience includes K-8 with the majority of time teaching middle school students and training new teachers from the University of Colorado School of Education. I earned my Elementary Education, and M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction with a Literacy focus from the University of Colorado at Denver. I also have an additional endorsement in Special Education. I am a lifelong learner, and meeting the needs of the children I teach is at the heart of what I do. I keep up-to-date and current professionally to meet the needs of accelerated learners and the special needs of Gifted and Talented children who are in my care.
I grew up here in Colorado in a large family; I am the fourth of eight children. I have two grown children, a son Bryan who works for the Division of Wildlife at the Shavano Fish Hatchery in Salida, and a daughter, Breana, who teaches middle school in Jefferson County. My son is married to Brooke and they have two amazing children, a daughter Braeden (8) and a son Beckham (6). My daughter is married to Matt and they have two beautiful children Inara (2) and Mosby (born in March 2016). Alex, my husband and best friend, owns and manages a small engineering consulting firm in Cherry Creek. When we are not working long hours, or spending time with our grandchildren and family, we are likely at our mountain cabin or traveling the world. During the summer months, if I am home, you will find me outdoors, most likely in my garden nurturing my plants to grow and bloom!
