**Remote Learning Begins For All Students on Thursday, August 27, 2020 and Continues Through At Least Friday, September 25, 2020**

**Remote Learning Begins For All Students on Thursday, August 27, 2020 and Continues Through At Least Friday, September 25, 2020**

Date & Time: Thu, 08/27/2020 (All day) to Fri, 09/25/2020 (All day)

Board of Education unanimously approved Superintendent's learning model for fall

On July 29, the Board of Education unanimously approved Superintendent Gdowski's recommended plan for the start of the school year.

All Adams 12 Five Star Schools students will begin the 2020-2021 school year with remote learning on Thursday, August 27. Remote learning will continue for all students through Friday, September 25 with scheduled in-person meetings with teachers to supplement remote learning. Starting the school year later than previously scheduled will allow staff professional development time on the district’s new and enhanced remote learning curriculum and give schools time to plan in-person events to welcome students, staff and families back for the new year.

Families can anticipate hearing from their child's school in early August with school-specific information about the Fall 2020 learning plan and back-to-school welcome activities.

Key Dates

  • Wednesday, August 12 through Wednesday, August 26: Schools will host in-person back to school opportunities for preschool, elementary, 6th and 9th grade students and families to meet school staff.
  • Thursday, August 27: First day of remote learning for all students
  • Thursday, August 27 - Friday, September 25: Remote learning continues for all district students
    • In-person meetings will occur between students and educators to supplement remote learning.
    • Delivery of some in-person instruction for students with disabilities, students with an advanced learning plan, English language learners, preschoolers and other specialized student populations will be provided as staffing is available to mitigate heightened needs and challenges for these students resulting from extended use of remote learning.
    • Learning Pods will be offered for students in grades K-8 at schools across the district based on interest and staffing availability. Learning Pods are a place for students to have access to internet and engage independently in remote learning in a safe and productive environment during standard school hours. Staff members in Learning Pods will not provide instruction to participating students. That responsibility will remain with the student's assigned teacher or teachers.
  • On or before Friday, September 11: A decision will be made about the continued learning model for the remainder of the first semester (i.e. return to in-person learning (full-time and/or hybrid) or continue remote learning). Regardless of this decision, an online-learning option will remain in place for interested students and families for the remainder of the 2020-2021 school year.
