High School Pathway
Hulstrom K-8 serves students and families from kindergarten to eighth grade; however, our students follow a robust K-12 progression, as the overwhelming majority of our students gain entry into the highly selective and specialized programs available within the Adams 12 Five Star School District High Schools. Once students arrive at Hulstrom K-8, we facilitate their growth in all areas, including their areas of passion and interest. Upon entering into eighth grade, we begin to explore their high school options through the lenses of their passions and interests. During the first semester of eighth grade, students research the following specialized “school-within-a-school” high school programs:
-
Legacy 2000 (L2K) at Legacy High School
-
International Baccalaureate (IB) at Thornton High School
-
Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) at Northglenn High School
-
SOAR Honors Program at Horizon High School
-
School of Business at Mountain Range High School
-
Career and Technology Education (CTE) at Bollman Technical Education Center (Entrance begins during Sophomore Year)
Beyond the “school-within-a-school” programs, students also research other areas of passion and interest offered via the comprehensive high school programs, such as extra-curricular clubs, athletics, theater, band, symphony, and so on. Hulstrom K-8 staff then supports students in applying to their choice programs, supporting them in managing timelines and managing application criterion. Hulstrom K-8 students have an almost 100 percent acceptance rate, and the overwhelming majority of students choose to go into one of the above programs where they are highly successful in both high school and beyond.
