• 8:05 a.m. - 3:35 p.m.

Beginning of Day/Dismissal Routines
The following routines were created to ensure students and families are not on the sides or backs of the school during the beginning of day or during dismissal to continually increase safety.  For their safety, students should arrive no earlier than 8:05 a.m. as Hulstrom does not provide supervision prior to 8:05 a.m.

• All doors open at 8:05 a.m.

• Middle School classes begin at 8:15 a.m.

• Elementary School classes begin at 8:25 a.m.

• Elementary Beginning of Day:

  • All Kindergarten through Fifth Grade Students will enter through the main front school doors beginning at 8:05 a.m.  This is to limit elementary students standing outside and ensures there will not be any students and families on the sides or back of the school prior to school.  This should also help more parents use the hug and go lane and keep traffic moving around the school.Kindergarten students will be given a special label to wear so staff on duty inside the building can assist them in getting to their classrooms quickly and without incident.  They will receive these during Back to School Night.

• Elementary Dismissal:

  • Kindergarten students will exit through the Kindergarten classroom doors.

  • 1st and 2nd grades will exit through the South Side doors.

  • 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades will exit through the Main School doors.

  • Remember, per BASE guidelines, the playground is not a public playground until 6:00 p.m. daily so we ask you do not move to the back of the building.

• Middle School Beginning of Day:

  • This remains the same as years past.  Middle School can gather outside the front Middle School doors, and they will enter at 8:05 a.m.  Staff will be on duty outside at this side of the school. Please stay in the front of the school, and do not go the sides or back.

• Middle School Dismissal:

  • All Middle School will dismiss through the front Middle School doors.

These changes will limit the number of doors open during the beginning of the day and during dismissal, they will keep students and families towards the front of the school, and will help us better monitor everyone’s safety during these times.

*Please make an effort to be at school on time.  The middle school tardy bell will be 8:15am and the elementary tardy bell will be 8:25am.  Tardy passes will be given to students who are not in their classroom ready to learn when the tardy bell rings unless it is actively precipitating during drop off.

Hulstrom K-8 follows all policies and guidelines outlined in District Policy 5060: Student Dress Code.  Hulstrom K-8 is responsible for ensuring that a student's personal appearance does not interfere with the health or safety of any student and does not cause disruption to the education process.  Additional school dress code requirements include:

• Gym shoes must have non-marking soles and must be worn for PE classes.
• Shorts or leggings must be worn under skirts for elementary students.
• Flip flops and heels should not be worn to school by elementary students.  Middle school students may wear flip flops and heels.

Lunch For 20 minutes/Recess for 20 minutes)

• Kindergarten - 11:00 am to 11:40 am
• 5th Grade - 11:15 am to 11:55 am
• 4th Grade - 11:25 am to 12:05 pm
• 1st Grade - 11:35 am to 12:15 pm
• 3rd Grade - 11:45 am to 12:25 pm
• 2nd Grade - 11:55 am to 12:35 pm
• Middle School - 12:46 pm to 1:26 pm 

Eating Lunch with Your Student(s):  Parents are able to come eat lunch with their student(s); however, note there is very limited space within the cafeteria, and the space must first and foremost be used for students to eat lunch.  This means you might end up standing next to your student if you decide to do this.  Additionally, we need to ensure all people within the building when students are in session have been properly cleared.  Therefore, the full volunteering process must be completed and an appointment must be made through Mrs. Tracy at least 24 hours ahead of time.  We will be limiting the number of parents due to space (2-3 per grade level).  Siblings are not able to attend when volunteering in any capacity, including during lunch.
