Hulstrom student recognized at Adams County meeting
Each fall the Adams County Education Consortium (ACEC) hosts a Career Expo for all 8th grade students in Adams County. Eight school districts and more than 6000 students attend the Expo to meet with over 100 business, post-secondary education, and CTE professionals to learn about their career options. Students spend time before the Expo exploring their interests and planning their visit; on the day they dress professionally and are provided business cards to give to the professionals they speak to. The Expo exhibitors save and submit business cards from students who really impressed them with their professionalism to ACEC to be recognized. This year, 35 of Hulstrom's 71 attendees were recognized by at least one business and Jake Horvath, one of our Hulstrom All Stars, earned the most recognitions of any student in attendance at the ACEC Career Expo. Due to the high number of recognitions Jake earned at the Career Expo, he was invited, along with his family, to be publicly congratulated by the Adams County Commissioners at their Public Hearing on January 21st. Jakes teachers had these comments to share about Jake:
"Jake has so much charisma he could light up NYC! I love his enthusiasm & high energy! He is always smiling & having fun no matter what he's doing--he makes the best of every situation."
"Jake draws people in and is a natural leader."
"Honestly, the best word that I can use to describe Jake is vibrant. He carries with him this sense of vibrancy and vividness. He is "alive", really, in every sense of the word. His energy and enthusiasm is remarkable. 'Visibility' is important to Jake, and I mean that in the most positive way it can be meant. He has an understanding of how much he matters in this complicated world, and he wants to leave his mark; he wants to 'matter.'"
"His drive and his ambition are unusual to find in such a young man. I have many times been both surprised and honestly a little awed by his ability to 'read the world' and talk so assuredly about the big ideas he encounters. His confidence in this is driven by his ability to connect the dots: between ideas/between people...and you would think that Jake's profound ability to connect with people might result in an arrogant kid, but Jake is anything but. Jake is friendly and warm and funny and kind and we will miss him terribly when he goes to high school, but we look forward to hearing about all of his future accomplishments."
"Jake has an infectious personality and always strives to be the best version of himself. He makes friends everywhere he goes, loves to talk about his passion - swimming, and overall has a wonderful joy for life! He is a great student to have in class, as it is never dull with him around, and I am so proud of him being recognized for this honor."
We are all so incredibly proud of Jake and this accomplishment, he is truly a remarkable young man.
