Design, Build, Create Studio

Hulstrom's Design+Build+Create Studio is a place for students to engage in hands-on, inquiry based learning focused on activities related to STEAM: Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math!  Located in the library, our Design+Build+Create Studio is affectionately known as the DBC Studio.  This collaborative workspace provides students wth access to tools, equipment, and resources for creating, tinkering, making, and learning.

The numerous benefits of the DBC Studio for students include:

  1. Encouraging Creativity and Innovation:  The DBC Studio offers a conducive enrironment for creative thinking and experimentation.  The space is supported by our Gifted and Talented Advocate who helps students turn their ideas into tangible projects, fostering a culture of innovation and problem-solving.
  2. Support for Hands-On Learning:  The DBC Studio promotes experiential learning, allowing students to learn through practical, hands-on experience.
  3. Collaboration and Community Building:  The DBC Studio fosters collaboration among students with diverse skills and interests.  Collaboration often leads to the exchange of knowledge and expertise, sparking new ideas and enhancing the quality of student-created projects.
  4. Developing Critical Thinking and Problem Solving Skills:  Through weekly challenges and projects, students work individually and on teams to solve problems, think outside the box, and design creative solutions to problems.
  5. Gaining Confidence in New Abilities:  Students are encouraged to try new activities and tackle problems in the DBC Studio.  This is a safe and supportive space for students to move outside their comfort zone while they try new things!

We welcome parent volunteers to help in the DBC Studio!  If you are interested in volunteering in Hulstrom's DBC Studio, reach out to Mandy Festi at mandy.r.festi@adams12.org.
